Deciding to go to college is one of the biggest commitments one can make. Though I did not immediately attend college after high school, because I went directly into the workforce, I had a strong desire to do so in my early-to-mid thirties. Graduating became important more so after having a child. I wanted/want to make my family and myself proud. Obtaining an education and a successful career to aid in living a healthier and happier life while also being a positive role model for my daughter has been paramount and the driving force throughout my college career.
I hold a Bachelor in Arts of Liberal Studies (Dean's List) with a concentration in Human Development and a second concentration in Visual and Performing Arts, an Associate in Arts of Social and Behavioral Sciences, an Associate in Arts of Early Childhood Development, an Associate in Arts of Social Justice, an Associate Teacher's Certificate, and a Teacher's Certificate (all High Honors). I am Aid Pediatric Plus CPR, AED, and First Aid for Children, Infants, and Adults certified, I am a Mandated Reporter, and I have a Child Development Teacher Permit.
Attending college provides an academic education, but it also teaches important life/soft skills.
Following are some attributes I learned along the way:

A school with a tradition of promoting intellectual, social, and personal growth as well as technological proficiency, I began attending Sonoma State University, full time, in the fall of 2020. Sonoma State University's mission is for staff and faculty to establish collaborative relationships with students and to provide an education that fosters civil engagement, ethical exploration, and social responsibility combined with a solid foundation in academic discipline. The curriculum at Sonoma State University strives to develop, in students, a global perspective and to prepare said students for the 21st century.

Campus Tour:
The Hutchins School of Liberal Studies is coupled with Sonoma State University and is located on the Sonoma State University's campus. The program provides students with the best preparation for today’s global economy, where flexibility and innovation have taken precedence. Many careers favor candidates with a strong foundation in the Liberal Arts because such individuals can think critically across disciplines, to work on teams collaboratively, to communicate effectively, to design and interpret data, and to apply knowledge in real-world settings. This is why Liberal Studies undergraduates like myself make effective leaders and innovators and is why organizations must not miss the opportunity to add one to their team.
