The Children's Center is located on the Santa Rosa Junior College campus in Santa Rosa, California, and is a learning facility for children as well as for student teachers. It is a state licensed Title V childcare provider with the capacity for up to 112 children. Its play-oriented approach, in a safe and nurturing environment, serves learners ages six months old to five years old (pre-pandemic) and two years old to five years old (post-pandemic). Student Teachers are a part of every childcare/preschool classroom while they learn and study under the supervision of master teachers.
As a part of The Children's Center team, and as an Early Childhood Educator, I was expected to modeled best practices while adult students observed, studied, and participated in classrooms. The Center has a parent resource room, several curriculum work spaces, a commercial kitchen, three student classrooms, a student library, multiple offices, and seven children's classrooms each with their own spacious outdoor play space. The Children's Center is the foundation for the education and training of adult students majoring in Early Childhood Studies.
